oh for Grace to trust Him more

The classic Christian hymn "Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus" brought me new revelation today. This is another thing I love about music, or poetry, or a even a story...The first time you hear it one part meets you where you are and speaks to your soul's needs, hurts, fears, excitement. The next time you come into its presence, something you never noticed before speaks to another part of you.

Normally I gravitate to the line, "Tis so sweet." It just puts a tender feeling in my heart of the sweetness of the gospel and the sweetness of my Lord. But today a part from the chorus resonated with me:

"Oh for grace to trust Him more"

I think what hit me me was that though it is sweet to trust in Jesus, it is not natural to trust in Jesus. In fact, it takes an act of GRACE for us to trust in Christ fully.

Rob Edwards (my RUF - Reformed University Fellowship - minister) once said,
"Faith is finding God trustworthy."

Well today I reminded that the I HOPE in the truth of a GOSPEL that produces a FAITH which enables me to find the God of the universe, my Heavenly Father, TRUSTWORTHY.

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus!
